Chelsea head coach Frank Lampard makes his first comments on Timo Werner’s unofficial debut for the club.

Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech needed only four minutes to make an impact in the Chelsea shirt in a friendly game against Brighton.

Both players combined for the opener in the 1-1 draw at the Amex, with the German striker netting his first goal for his new club.

Blues boss Frank Lampard was pleased with what he saw from his new players, as Chelsea are getting ready for the start of the Premier League season on September 12.

“I thought Timo was really sharp and bright,” said Super Frank for the club’s official website.

“He got his goal really early in the game, he showed some of the qualities that I know very well he has so I am very excited about having him in the squad.

“I thought his work rate and everything about him was a great little start for him and Hakim Ziyech the same, some of his contributions and passing and quality levels were great.

“He has a bit of a knock on his knee, a little bit of a small twist which we will have to assess, hopefully it is not too bad, but in the performances they were both really good.”

Timo Werner will make his official debut at the very same stadium, as Chelsea kick off their 2020-21 campaign away at Brighton in two weeks.
