Ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Everton, Frank Lampard will get to see his old boss on the big stage.

Chelsea will face Everton at Goodison Park as the Premier League is back in action this weekend. And Frank Lampard is looking forward to meeting his old boss Carlo Ancelotti in this highly anticipated tussle. The Blues head coach played under the Italian manager back in 2009 until 2011. Lampard contributed 32 goals for Ancelotti’s 76 top-flight matches at Stamford Bridge. Eventually, the Everton boss aided Chelsea to domestic league triumph in the 2009-10 season.

Lampard & co. enjoy a spot in the top four of the English League at the moment and are five points clear of the Toffees. Everton saw a boost right from the beginning of the season, however, are struggling to put a resilient performance lately. But, the Chelsea gaffer has massive respect for his old mentor and is grateful for his impact on his personal life.

A re-union.

“I was heavily influenced by him as a player and a man,” said Lampard. “He is right at the top when I speak about the managers I’ve worked with for everything about him. The huge success he has had at a number of clubs. One to one I found him to be a great coach, a great man. And I look forward at all times to seeing him and speaking to him.”

In addition, Lampard backed the Everton team despite their recent debacles in the English top-flight. “That’s the nature of the Premier League, they started very well and have quality players. And have a fantastic manager who is one of the best in the world,” he said. “The Premier League is unforgiving. We all have patches where results are challenging but it doesn’t change my thoughts about how I approach Everton.”

“They are a very good side, with quality individuals, who can win games. I’m focusing on their strengths and dangers when we go there.”
