The Paris Saint-Germain and France striker is coming off another record-breaking campaign, but has he done enough to lift the Ballon d’Or?

Kylian Mbappe, the French football sensation, is aiming for a maiden Ballon d’Or triumph in 2023.

Despite facing tough competition from Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland, who have both had exceptional seasons, Mbappe is confident he has made a strong case for himself. He had a memorable season in 2022/23, including a hat-trick in the World Cup final, another Ligue 1 title with PSG, and a total of 54 goals for club and country – a new record for a French player.

In an interview with TF1, Mbappe acknowledged the challenge of clinching the big prize, but stated, “I think I fit the criteria of catching the eye, scoring goals, and making an impact.”

Mbappe remains positive despite missing out on a second World Cup crown and PSG falling short in their pursuit of Champions League glory. His club future is uncertain though. The striker has informed PSG that he will not be triggering a contract extension option. This will make him a free agent in 2024 unless Paris intervenes by selling him this summer.
