Toni Kroos sings praises of Zinedine Zidane as he attempts to explain what makes him the perfect manager for Real Madrid.

The news of Zinedine Zidane’s decision to step down as the Real Madrid manager in May of 2018 induced more shock than it did distress among the fans.

The shocking feeling was evoked due to the news emerging totally out of the blue. No one could quite calculate as to why Zidane, who had just led Los Blancos to back to back to back Champions League success back then, wanted out.

But Madridistas’ distress did not last too long as he retook the managerial office just nine months later.

The team suffered a downfall in his absence and his return saw them reemerge as a force to reckon with in Spain, leading them to a record 34th La Liga triumph in 2019/20.

Zidane’s association with Real Madrid can be traced way back to 2001 when he signed for the club as a player. He quickly became a popular figure at the Spanish capital, a legacy which is continuing till date.

Toni Kroos insists the 48-year old is well aware of what it means to wear the famous white shirt and the expectations that come with it, and this is why he has been so successful in the dugout at Santiago Bernabeu.

β€œIt helps that he was a great player himself. He knows exactly what makes them tick and what it’s like to be a Real Madrid player. He applies this knowledge superbly,” Kroos told Swiss publication Blick.

“He’s incredibly good at managing this group of stars. He meets every player at eye level, brings everyone on board, and has everything around Real under control.

“And he is also very good technically. He’s the best coach you could ask for.”
