Ahead of the new La Liga campaign, Ronald Koeman revealed his disappointment over a ‘complicated’ Ousmane Dembele situation at Barcelona.
Ronald Koeman has cleared that he is upset with Ousmane Dembele’s situation at Barcelona saying it is “complicated”.
Being in his final year of the contract, the Frenchman’s future seems very foggy at the moment. As a matter of fact, Dembele and the Catalan club have not agreed to fresh terms yet.
The World Cup-winning striker has not made any decision regarding his options for some time now. And it appears that Barca does not want to give up on this deal having invested heftily in the beginning.
On top of all this, the 24-year-old Frenchman is going through rehabilitation for a knee injury sustained during Euro 2020. Meaning, Dembele will not be able to play games during the starting phase of the 2021-22 campaign.
Naturally, Koeman has taken things out of his system saying Dembele’s situation looks far from ideal. The Dutch boss told Barcelona’s official website: “I am very disappointed with his injury.”
“Also, the situation with his contract is complicated.”
“It is a pity for himself and for us. He brought us a lot last year, different from what we have. I hope he can come back soon.”
