As the winter transfer window nears, Ronald Koeman refused to rule out Barcelona making another attempt to sign Memphis Depay.
Koeman won’t rule out the prospect of Memphis Depay becoming a Barcelona player in the near future, but has refused to shed further light on his interest.
Depay had agreed on personal terms ahead of a summer switch from Lyon only for Barcelona’s financial troubles to pull the plug on a potential deal. But with the winger’s contract to expire next year, talk of a Camp Nou move persists.
Despite Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas insisting he won’t be sold in January, the Blaugrana may reportedly still attempt a move amid Antoine Griezmann’s struggles and Ansu Fati’s recent injury setback.
“Now is not the moment to talk about players who aren’t here. For me, it’s not good,” Koeman told Mundo Deportivo.
“It’s true his name has come out, and he’s played every game with our national team [the Netherlands] as a No 9.
“Everyone can have their opinion, but not here, and we’ll see what happens in the future.”
Depay has managed five goals and three assists in his opening 10 Ligue 1 games for Lyon this season.
