In a recent interview, Ronald Koeman opened up about the possibility of a contract renewal at FC Barcelona. He has goals at the club.
Even though many FC Barcelona supporters don’t really want Ronald Koeman to continue as the club’s manager. The Dutchman is convinced he has what it takes to help the team win many titles in the short term. There are many similarities between the three new projects that Joan Laporta has led throughout his tenures as the club’s president. One of them is the trust he has in his managers.
Frank Rijkaard was an unknown manager when he first arrived at the club, so was Pep Guardiola. Koeman’s case is slightly similar from the meritocracy standpoint because he doesn’t have a tremendous career overall. But Laporta is widely convinced Koeman is the man who can take the job and make things happen for FC Barcelona. Even though a lot of people are asking him to resign, Ronald doubled down on his intentions to stay at the club.
Koeman wants to renew his contract at FC Barcelona.
In a recent interview with Diario Sport, Ronald Koeman was questioned point-blank about his intentions to renew his contract: “Yes, of course, I’m open to renewal. I’ll be excited to continue as a coach for many years, despite the complicated things that exist at the club today. But I think all that thanks to our decisions, coaches and the technical staff.
“Barça has young players with a huge immediate future and hopefully in three, four or five years I can continue to be their coach. Above everything, I consider myself a club man. I’ve always believed I have a duty to help the club I represent. My aim is to seek formulas to improve the squad without compromising the entity. What’s happening at Barça over the last few years os very special. Everything has already happened to me here!”
