After winning his first trophy as Barcelona manager, Koeman already has his eyes set on a second one.

Ronald Koeman has vowed Barcelona will fight until the very end in the La Liga title race after Saturday’s Copa del Rey triumph.

The Blaugrana defeated Athletic Club 4-0 in the Copa del Rey final to claim a first title of the season. And with only a two-point gap to La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid, at the time of writing, a domestic double is a strong possibility.

So Koeman, who previously won the Copa del Rey as Valencia manager in 2008, isn’t getting too far ahead of himself.

“It’s a fantastic feeling,” said the Barcelona boss on the Copa del Rey triumph as per Marca.

“Getting to the final was difficult, with those extra time games…

“We’re very happy and we deserved to win at least one trophy this season. The club deserves it.

“It’s a really important trophy for the club in a year of change. The team always had faith in winning something.

“It’s a happy day for all Barcelona fans. It’s a deserved success. We’ve made changes to the team this season, but the players have bought into it.

“I want to credit the team’s attitude, especially in the Copa, where we’ve suffered a lot.

“We were hungry. Now we have one trophy in the bag and we’re going to go for a second.

“We will fight for La Liga until the last day.”

Barcelona return to action on Thursday for their next La Liga match against Getafe at Camp Nou.
