Ahead of the upcoming Spanish Supercup final, Ronald Koeman made an interesting final verdict about the club’s winter transfer activity.

Due to how complicated the club’s situation is at the moment, Ronald Koeman isn’t expecting much from the winter transfer window. Initially, there was hope for him to get a couple of new players if the elections took place on January 24. But the recent postponement of the process made him rethink the whole strategy. As it turns out, Koeman will have to rely heavily on the club’s academy players as he’s done it all season.

He is no longer pushing for the club to make any type of effort because he realized it’s futile. When he first arrived at the club, the Dutchman knew these things were bound to happen inside a club that is plunged in a deep crisis. Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay’s arrivals will have to wait until next summer, at least.

Koeman is content with what he has now.

Ahead of the upcoming Spanish Supercup, Ronald Koeman spoke about many different topics. He referred to Leo Messi’s injury and hoped he can play on Sunday. But he also referred to the club’s inability to sign new players over the winter transfer window. Simply put, Barcelona has no money to spend on transfers. The club is also in a complicated position with Carles Tusquets merely as an interim president.

This is what Koeman said via Marca: “I’ve heard that I’m upset, unhappy, and worried. I must say that I feel fine, happy. We know perfectly about the club’s economic limitations. If signing players isn’t possible, then that’s okay. We must move forward with the players we have. As far as exits are concerned. If we are talking about young players, their exit is to have minutes and improve. Neto is a different story. His agent requested an exit and we said no. He is a very important goalkeeper for us and we want to have all positions well-covered.”
