Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman was left utterly disappointed as his side dropped crucial points to Cadiz in a 1-1 stalemate.

Koeman was left fuming at his side after a late penalty saw Cadiz take a point at the Nou Camp.

Messi scored a penalty of his own earlier in the 32nd minute and Barcelona looked set to extend their winning run in La Liga.

A late mistake from Lenglet saw him cost his side a penalty and the equalizer for Cadiz in the process.

Given that leaders Atletico dropped points yesterday, Barcelona had a chance to close the gap on the La Liga leaders.

However, they now find themselves eight points behind the pacesetters as hopes of a title continue to fade away.

Barcelona might have lost 4-1 to PSG in midweek, but Koeman says he is more disappointed with the draw than he is against the Champions League defeat.

“It’s disappointing, these kinds of games have to be won and we didn’t do it,” Koeman said to the club’s social channel.

“It’s a big opportunity lost after the Atletico Madrid defeat. It’s a big disappointment.”

“I’m very disappointed, more so than last Tuesday [when Barcelona lost to Paris Saint-Germain].”

“We couldn’t let the two points slip away. We are disappointed.”I don’t like to blame the players individually. We weren’t up to the task in attack, and we have to defend differently. In terms of quality, we should have won.”

Rather than blame his side for conceding a penalty for dropped points, Koeman blamed his side for not converting the chances they had.

“The problem is that the scoreline was very close and they could equalize at any moment, as happened,” he added.

“You leave them the chance to equalise in the last few minutes. If you don’t kill the game and you don’t score the second, they can always score…”

“We struggled to create chances because they were deep and there was no space. We lacked freshness up front.”We have to analyse what happened in the penalty [Cadiz won late on], the whole play, to see how it happened.”
