The sacking of Ronald Koeman could cost Barcelona €12m.
Barcelona parted ways with Ronald Koeman after their 1-0 defeat against Rayo Vallecano last Thursday.
The Catalans are searching to find a new manager, but terminating Koeman’s contract will not be cheap.
According to Diario Sport, the compensation fee for terminating the contract stands at €12m. Barcelona president Joan Laporta has reportedly offered the manager a fee of around €7.5m. However, Koeman insists on getting the full compensation package from the club.
Barcelona might find it hard to satisfy Koeman’s demands amid their unstable financial situation. By closing Koeman’s case with half of the compensation fee, Barca hope to save money for their winter transfer targets.
The Catalan side are planning to sign club legend Xavi Hernandez as their new headcoach, but first they have to terminate the Dutchman’s contract.
The Blaugrana are set to play their second match under interim coach Sergi Barjuan. The Catalans will battle Dynamo Kyiv for Cahmpions League survival on Tuesday.
