The Dutch tactician suggests the players are starting to get more comfortable under his system and that it reflects on the pitch.

Ronald Koeman’s era at FC Barcelona started on a high note as the team trashed Villarreal 4-0 on the opening La Liga matchday.

A 3-0 win against Celta Vigo thereafter gave enough reasons to the Catalan supporters to believe in the new boss after their team had lost the league title to arch-rivals Real Madrid under the previous coach.

However, things quickly started to go south thereafter. Barca have now managed just a single victory in their previous six league games, losing out to the big guns Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in that period.

The Blaugrana, though, have been a force to reckon with in the Champions League so far. They recorded a healthy 3-0 win against Ferencvaros on Wednesday night, making it five wins out of five in the group stage.

“Lately, we have more effectiveness,” Koeman assured of his impact on the team speaking after the Ferencvaros game, via Goal.

“In defense, we can still improve, but we are on the right track and hopefully we can continue like this.

“The difference is the team has been effective in the games. It is quite a big change compared to the beginning of the season. The hunger that we have, you have to prove it.”
