Liverpool dismantled their arch-rivals in a home game earlier this year.
Jurgen Klopp has called on Liverpool to stay focused against Manchester United despite their rivals’ recent form.
United were humiliated by Klopp’s men when the two sides met at Anfield last season. Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and Darwin Nunez all scored braces before Roberto Firmino put the icing on the cake for the hosts.
Liverpool are currently in a much better position compared to last season, as they lead the Premier League with 37 points from their 16 matches. However, Klopp hopes his players won’t underestimate their crisis-ridden rivals.
“The 7-0 we knew that day it was a freak result that happens once in a lifetime. If it helps anyone for the next game, it is the team who lost 7-0 and not the team who won 7-0,” Klopp told reporters on Friday.
“If you take it all out of consideration and just play a football game against the historical rival of Liverpool at home at Anfield and that itself must make it a special game and that’s what I want to see from us, a special game. Really understand the situation and give your all, that’s all I need.”
