Liverpool do not have any bias towards any one particular competition and want success in each one of them, suggests Jurgen Klopp.
Apart from missing a few players due to injury, Liverpool were fielding their full-strength line-up when they faced Arsenal last time out in the Premier League.
The teams will go head to head once again on Thursday night, this time for a Carabao Cup Round of 16 clash.
It is expected that Jurgen Klopp would rest a majority of his regular players and field a line-up with much-diminished strength than before.
Klopp will not be doing so for the first time and neither will be the only manager to do so as it has been a norm among the top-four Premier League sides to play their ‘B team in the League Cup.
Such a norm has given rise to a perception that certain clubs give less importance to the cup competition.
The German tactician, however, denies having any such belief and insists his side are determined to win the Carabao Cup, though admitting that he will indeed make changes in his starting XI.
Klopp said in his official matchday program notes: โIt is not a case of treating certain competitions as priorities over others. Itโs about managing the situation, the circumstances, and the squad.
โIt is likely we will make changes this evening but I hate that this is perceived in a way that certain games matter more than others. This game tonight matters like you wouldnโt believe.
“Can we promise success? No! Can we make success happen by simply saying something about it? No! But we can try.”
