Jurgen Klopp was quick to accept the job offer when Liverpool called him to be head coach back in 2015.

Jurgen Klopp needed no convincing when Liverpool called him to take over as head coach.

The German took over from Brendan Rodgers back in 2015 and had a lot of work to do with the club.

Liverpool had only just finished sixth place and they also looked like they needed a massive overhaul. Klopp was coming in from Borussia Dortmund and was equal to the task.

The transformation wasn’t immediate but it was worth it. Since taking over as Reds’ boss, the club have risen to be one of Europe’s most dominant sides.

Under Klopp, Liverpool won their sixth European crown and also ended their 30-year wait for a domestic title.

The German manager remembers when he got the call and reveals he didn’t need to do much thinking.

“We were on holiday in Lisbon and I got a call from my agent,” Klopp said during the BBC documentary titled ‘Liverpool FC: The 30 Year Wait’. “He told me about the interest of Liverpool. So our plans at that moment looked completely different actually, because we wanted to make more holidays!

“I told my family and my boys were immediately like “yes!”. I looked in [wife] Ulla’s eyes and she was ‘er, when?’

“When you make such a big promise like I did when I left Dortmund, that we were going to have a year to ourselves, and after four months you come around the corner with different plans, you have to ask at least.

“I was pretty much on fire from the first second really, they didn’t have to convince me.”

Ahead of next season, Klopp has called on his Liverpool players to remain ‘hungry’ in their quest for more trophies.
