The Reds boss has offered injury updates on three key players ahead of the clash with an in-form West Ham.
Jurgen Klopp has provided injury updates on Liverpool stars Fabinho, Naby Keita, and Joe Gomez ahead of Sunday’s clash with West Ham.
The German coach has confirmed Fabinho, who missed Thursday’s 3-1 win over Tottenham with a muscular issue, remains unavailable. The Brazilian’s absence is a blow as he has filled in as a center-back in the club’s defensive injury crisis.
Fabinho could also be a doubt for the next league match against Brighton on Wednesday, but he may return for next weekend’s showdown with Manchester City.
“Minor issues nowadays are at least three games,” said Klopp during a pre-match conference on Saturday. “It depends on the week – it could be four games as well. We have to see.
“I think the game where Fab could be back is City.”
On midfielder Keita, who has been sidelined since the 7-0 win over Crystal Palace on December 19, with a muscle problem, the Liverpool boss said: “Naby is closer but not close enough.”
Gomez, on the other hand, has been unavailable since undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in November. Hopes of a return before the season is over, however, appears bleak.
“Joe Gomez is actually in a pretty good place, but far away from being back,” Klopp said on the center-back.
“He walks around, looks completely normal, is not yet out on the pitch and running or even out of the gym. It’s just a really tough injury as well.
“Will he be available this season? When does the season end? May? It will be close at least, I would say.
“I don’t expect, so I would be positively surprised if he would be back this season, to be honest.”
