The Reds boss provided an update on the conditions of Salah, Szoboszlai, and Alexander-Arnold before the team’s upcoming Premier League match.
Mohamed Salah is in contention to return from injury for Saturday’s game against Brentford, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Salah has been out with a muscular injury for over three weeks. His last appearance came for Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations on January 18, where they drew 2-2 against Ghana. He has been training with the Liverpool team this week and could be available for this weekend’s match.
“Mo is back in full training, [so] that brings him automatically in contention of course,” Klopp said at a pre-match press conference on Friday.
Szoboszlai & Alexander-Arnold still out
Dom Szoboszlai and Trent Alexander-Arnold will both remain sidelined in the meantime.
Szoboszlai has a hamstring injury, which he sustained in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on February 4. Klopp has said that the midfielder may have a chance to play in the EFL Cup final against Chelsea on February 25.
Alexander-Arnold, though, is expected to miss the trip to Wembley because of a knee injury he suffered in January. The right-back played in last Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Burnley. However, he aggravated his knee problem, which caused him to come off at half-time.
“With Dom, it will be around that time [the EFL Cup final]. We will see exactly how it works. With Trent maybe a week or two longer, so it’s not great,” Klopp said.
“Not sure if Dom has a chance for the final, but maybe. Trent will probably be after.”
Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak, and Joel Matip will also remain unavailable for the Brentford game.
A victory for Liverpool in this match would further extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table. They are currently two points clear of title rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.
