The Ivorian star played a crucial role in Rossoneri’s Scudetto-winning campaign.
Franck Kessie has published a farewell message to Milan fans ahead of his upcoming departure from the Rossoneri.
The midfielder helped Milan win their first Serie A in 11 years when they defeated Sassuolo last weekend. However, as confirmed before, he will leave San Siro as a free agent ahead of the next season.
“After five years, I couldn’t hope to end this great experience in a better way!” the Rossoneri star wrote on Instagram. “[It is] a unique emotion – we are champions of Italy! [I am] proud to have worn this glorious jersey and to have shared this journey with fantastic companions! Thanks for everything! Thank you all!”
Barcelona are yet to announce the signing of Kessie officially. However, several sources have confirmed he will join the Catalans ahead of the next season.
According to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Kessie has already signed a four-year deal at Camp Nou. The Ivorian star, who leaves Milan as a free agent, will reportedly earn a €6.5m salary plus add-ons.
Having turned down a Milan contract renewal, Kessie will play a part in Barcelona’s new era under Xavi Hernandez.
The Spanish coach is keen to make several other additions to his squad. However, Barca’s financial situation might force him to rethink his priorities ahead of the next season.
