Roy Keane claims Manchester United’s underperforming players will cost Ole Solskjaer his job if they cannot turn their season around.
Manchester United suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Tottenham last weekend. It was the Red Devils’ joint-heaviest Premier League defeat in their history and were 4-1 down at half-time following a dismal first-half.
A day after the defeat, rumors started to emerge about the club making contact with Mauricio Pochettino regarding a manager role. They were all but rumors but the message was clear current boss Ole Solskjaer is hanging on a thin thread.
United legend Roy Keane now believes Solskjaer could suffer a similar fate to his predecessor Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. Should the poor results continue, it’s only a matter of time before the Norwegian gets his marching orders.
“The performance against Spurs was disgraceful… we’ve all been in football, we’ve had bad days, but I thought it was a disgrace to the badge, some of the players’ performance,” Keane said as quoted by Daily Mail.
“Too many bluffers, and ultimately I think they will cost Ole his job.”
“They threw the previous manager (Mourinho) under the bus, they will do exactly the same to Ole.”
Under-pressure Solskjaer confessed the humiliation at the hands of Spurs was his worst day in football.
Following an inconsistent start to the season, United must now look to getting a steady run of decent results.
Up next for the Red Devils after the international break is a trip to Newcastle in the Premier League before they face PSG in the Champions League.
