Roy Keane had nothing but praises for Arsenal star Thomas Partey who put in a good shift against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Thomas Partey was one of the standout names in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The Ghana international was signed by the Gunners on deadline day from Atletico Madrid. After a long chase all summer, Arsenal activated his 50m release clause and sealed a big transfer to bring him to the Emirates.

For years, Arsenal had lacked a midfielder with grit such as the one shown in the days of a certain Patrick Viera.

Prior to his move, many had tipped Partey to do justice to the above and early signs show the Ghanaian is on track.

Elneny and Partey complemented each other in the Gunners’ midfield and ran the show against United.

Roy Keane is convinced Arsenal might have themselves another Patrick Viera in their new signing.

On Partey, Keane said to talkSPORT: “Brilliant! He was outstanding. We said before the game this guy’s no mug, he’s played at a big club, played in some big competitions… when you see a player live that’s when you can judge a player.”

“The more I look at him, the more I wished he was in Man United’s midfield – big strong aggressive.”

“I had my battles with Patrick Vieira, I think this kid’s got a chance of matching what Patrick used to do. He’s big, strong, aggressive AND he likes to pass it forward, he even looks comfortable on the ball. He’s got a good touch, he retains possession.”
