Benzema is unhappy with Real Madrid’s pursuit of Haaland and intends to leave the club if they sign the Norwegian.
Karim Benzema is reportedly unhappy with Real Madrid’s decision to pursue Erling Haaland, and has warned the club he will seek an exit if they sign the Borussia Dortmund star this summer.
Los Blancos are long-term admirers of the 22-year-old and have been tipped to make a big-money move for him and Kylian Mbappe ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Haaland has been linked with an exit from Dortmund for a while, with a number of top European clubs interested in snapping up the exciting youngster.
According to El Nacional, Benzema isn’t happy with Madrid president Florentino Perez’s pursuit of Haaland, and is willing to walk away from the club if they bring in the Norwegian in the summer.
The report also adds that the Frenchman is “unwilling” to give up on his career and would be open to continue playing elsewhere. However, Benzema would have no issue if Real Madrid end up signing Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, for he is on good terms with his countryman.
Haaland has previously claimed that he wanted to wait until the end of the current campaign to take a call on his future, but revealed last week that Dortmund were pressuring him to make a decision as soon as possible.
“The last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision,” Haaland said.
“All I want to do is play football. But they press me… about my future, so that means I have to make a decision soon.”
