The Spanish police are investigating a robbery that took place at the Frenchman’s home at the weekend.

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema’s home was broken into during the club’s 2-2 draw with Elche on Sunday.

All in all, it was a frustrating evening for Benzema. The 34-year-old missed his first-ever penalty for Real Madrid. He later left the pitch injured as Elche took a two-goal lead. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men launched a late comeback to salvage a point thanks to Luka Modric’s penalty and Eder Militao’s header.

Benzema then returned to his home after the match, only to discover he had been robbed.

According to Spanish outlet 20 minutos, the thieves broke into his home through the garden. The house, located in a luxury complex in San Sebastian de los Reyes, was empty at the time.

The second time Benzema has been robbed

The police are yet to identify the robbers, although further reports from Spain state the break-in place between 3-7 p.m. local time.

This is the second time thieves have targeted Benzema’s home. They previously robbed him in February 2019, while he was playing for Real Madrid in a Copa del Rey semi-final clash with Barcelona.

His Real Madrid teammates Casemiro, Isco, and Lucas Vazquez have also been robbed in the past.
