Tottenham star striker Harry Kane has singled out John Terry as the best defender he has played against so far.

Kane is arguably one of the most prolific goal-scorers of his generation. Ever since making his Premier League breakthrough, the 27-year-old has been a menace to the opposition defenders.

The two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner has been bagging goals practically at will for both the club and country.

In fact, he remains the only player to outscore Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo across the calendar year since 2009.

Facing Kane is a nightmare for defenders. However, coming face-to-face with some of the best center-backs makes the England captain share the same feeling.

Asked to name the best defender he has ever come up against, Kane quickly replied: “John Terry.”

According to the Spurs talisman, Terry’s tactical intelligence and positional awareness make him the toughest opponent he has faced.

“I played against him for a couple of years and he’s just a really smart defender. Good positioning – used his body well, didn’t let you make runs across,” he told SportBible.

Kane went on to put the likes of Sergio Ramos, Giorgio Chiellini, and Virgil van Dijk on the same pedestal.

“Sergio Ramos – very good, a complete player.

“I’ve also said Giorgio Chiellini [in the past], I played against Chiellini for Italy and Juventus.

“Then, at the moment, I think Virgil van Dijk is up there with one of the best as well.”

Kane finished as Tottenham’s top-scorer for the sixth year running, adding 24 goals to his name for 2019/20.
