Jose Mourinho has confirmed that forward Harry Kane is a doubt to feature against Arsenal in the North London Derby on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho says star man Harry Kane is facing a late fitness battle of Tottenham’s clash with fierce rivals Arsenal on Sunday.
League leaders Tottenham lock horns with Mikel Arteta’s inconsistent side at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. The Gunners are winless in their last three League outings and their chances of a win come Sunday look pretty slim on paper.
On the other hand, Tottenham have only lost on the opening day of the season and find themselves top of the Premier League standings. They are already being mentioned as title challengers.
Much of Tottenham’s good form is down to Harry Kane and his partnership with Son Heung-min.
The England captain has had an impressive seven goals and nine assists to his name this term. That stat makes him the most involved Premier League player in goals so far.
Kane has proven to be a regular source of goals for Spurs and when he isn’t scoring, he is creating chances leading to goals.
However, the influential forward missed his side’s training ahead of their Europa League clash with LASK Linz and is now in danger of missing out on Sunday.
“Lamela is an injury from three weeks, a month ago,” Mourinho said as per Evening Standard ahead of his side’s Europa League game.
“I don’t believe he has a chance for the weekend.”
“Harry (Kane), Vinicius and Sergio, there is a chance for the weekend.”
Mourinho refused to reveal the nature of the striker’s injury but remained positive about his chances of playing against Arsenal.
“I’m not going to tell you the nature of his injury. I think he (Kane)has a good chance [to face Arsenal],” he added.
“I don’t want to lie, I don’t want to hide anything in relation to is he going to play or no? I think he’s going to play. That’s my feeling is that he’s going to play.”
