The £65 million summer signing has struggled to adapt in the red side of London, with no goals nor assists in his first five games for Arsenal.
Kai Havertz has been the talk of the town ever since his big-money move to Arsenal from Chelsea this summer. Despite starting five games already, the German midfielder is yet to score or assist a goal for his new team.
This has led to a lot of early criticism, but Havertz is not letting it get to him. He is not panicking and is taking things in his stride.
“It’s only my second month there, so that’s why I’m relatively relaxed,” the 24-year-old said ahead of Germany’s friendly with Japan on Saturday.
“So far in my career, I have had phases here and there where things have been a little bumpy… and I know a lot of bad stuff will be written
“It’s not the first time I’ve come to a new club and so I know that it can take a bit longer.”
Despite his early struggles, Havertz has the full support of his manager, Mikel Arteta. In fact, Arteta even went so far as to compare his player’s situation to his own courtship with his wife! He said that things were hard at the beginning, but he persevered until he finally won her over.
Arsenal return to action on September 17 away to Everton in the Premier League.
