Rumor has it that Kai Havertz’s highly-anticipated transfer to Arsenal for a whopping £65 million is in the works. While the deal hasn’t been officially announced yet, details have been leaked online.

Kai Havertz will be joining Arsenal for the upcoming season, donning the No.29 shirt.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Havertz signed his contract on Monday. His deal will run until June 2028. As for Arsenal and the player’s club, Chelsea, the London sides settled on an agreement at the weekend. The transfer fee is reported to be worth around £65 million.

Now an interview between Havertz and Arsenal’s media team has been leaked online. It confirmed the German will wear the No.29 at the Emirates. He explained he has always worn this number as it has brought him luck throughout his career.

“So I have it now for many years,” Havertz, who also donned the No. 29 jersey at Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea, said in the interview.

“I chose it when I became a professional in Germany and since then it’s always given me luck. You know when I became a professional I took it because it has some history with my brother. We used to take it always when we played video games together. For me, it’s a perfect number and I cannot wait to wear it playing in red again.”

Arsenal are expected to confirm Havertz’s arrival shortly. The 24-year-old will become the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber may follow suit following a positive round of talks. Arsenal have also tabled a third offer for West Ham’s Declan Rice. The bid is worth £105 million, which would be a British transfer record.
