The German champions could have a new CEO by the start of the new season.

Jan-Christian Dreesen has reportedly emerged as a candidate to replace Oliver Kahn as Bayern Munich’s CEO.

Pressure has piled on Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamdizic since the controversial sacking of Julian Nagelsmann.

Under Thomas Tuchel, Bayern were knocked out of the Champions League and the DFB- Pokal. The German giants are also on the verge of missing out on the Bundesliga crown for the first time in over a decade.

Dreesen, who’s already a board member at Bayern, is the top candidate to replace Kahn in the summer. German outlet Bild has branded the 55-year-old as a “financial genius”, speculating Karl-Heinz Rummenigge could return to the club as his financial advisor.

However, Germany’s football federation (DFL) is also seriously considering hiring Dreesen. According to Sport1, the Bayern board member is in “advanced talks” with DFL. However, he is leaning toward staying at Bayern due to his attachment to the club.

Bayern’s 3-1 defeat against Leipzig last weekend was enough for Borussia Dortmund to leapfrog them off the top of the table ahead of the campaign’s final match day.

Bayern will travel to Koln, while Dortmund hope to secure their sixth Bundesliga trophy by beating Mainz on home soil.
