Ozan Kabak is eager to play alongside Van Dijk while revealing how the Dutchman has helped him settle at Anfield.
Ozan Kabak is learning from one of the best in Van Dijk and says the Dutchman has helped him adapt to Liverpool’s style of play.
Van Dijk has been absent since October after he suffered a long-term injury to his knee.
In his absence, Liverpool have faltered and their defense has been anything but resolute compared to past seasons.
Their struggles forced them to dip into the transfer market, with Kabak arriving on loan and Ben Davies signing permanently from Preston.
Liverpool’s high line has long been part of their game plan, but it requires new players to adapt.
So far, Kabak reveals he has gotten some pointers from Van Dijk on Liverpool’s style of play in defense.
“I have met with him. He is a really nice guy, a top person – like his talent!” he told Premier League Productions.
“He gave me a lot of help and tips about football. Now he is in rehabilitation but I hope he will be back soon and he will help us on the pitch also.
“I am looking forward to playing with him, of course, in the defence.”
“He gave me some advice about how Liverpool plays in defence and how we have a high line, so he gave me some tips about how Liverpool play.”
“It’s little things but of course it helps when you play, when you defend. He is such an experienced guy and his words are very valuable for me.”
Kabak is yet to fully settle in the Premier League but has shown glimpses that he can come good in no time.
Having made the switch from Schalke, the 20-year-old compared the English top flight to the Bundesliga.
“The Premier League is a really, really high level,” he added.
“The Bundesliga was also a really high level, but I think the Premier League is more high-intensity and physical.
“In the last three games we could only take just one win, unfortunate things happened. But I think in the next games we will take some more wins.”
