Barcelona are reportedly keen to add the Juventus pair to their ranks in the current transfer window.

Several Spanish sources have linked Barcelona with moves for Alvaro Morata and Matthijs de Ligt in recent weeks. Morata is spending a loan deal at Juventus from Atletico Madrid. However, he might leave the club to join Barca’s newly formed attacking line under Xavi Hernandez.

On the other hand, De Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola has confirmed his client is looking for a new challenge. Barcelona are currently the frontrunners to sign De Ligt, with Xavi reportedly admiring the Dutchman’s qualities.

In a new interview, Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic, who is currently on loan at Besiktas, spoke about the transfer links.

He told Tuttosport“Morata has had an amazing career so far. He played for big clubs like Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Juventus. Sometimes players need motivation, but I would think twice before leaving a club where they feel good.

“Morata knows what to do. Barcelona hired Xavi, a coach who knows the club really well. I don’t know the details, but I’ve always heard that Morata was happy at Juventus.

Even if when Barcelona call you always need to think about it.”

Pjanic himself moved to Barcelona from Juventus in a swap deal that saw Arthur Melo join the Bianconeri. Following the 2018 transfer, the Bosnian midfielder has failed to find his place in Barca’s squad. He is currently spending a loan deal at Besiktas, with Spanish sources claiming Barcelona have no intention of keeping him.

The Catalans hope to improve their squad under Xavi despite their financial problems. The club are eyeing several players while trying to tie Ousmane Dembele down to a new deal.
