The former Lyon man has established himself as one of the best in the business ever since arriving at the Spanish capital.
Juventus were in talks to sign Ferland Mendy before he joined Real Madrid, the player’s agent has revealed.
Following a breakthrough couple of years with Lyon, Mendy was picked up by Real Madrid for an initial €48 million in what was a busy summer of 2019 for the club.
Crucial to their La Liga triumph last season, the Frenchman has proved to be a great addition to Zinedine Zidane’s squad.
He has firmly made the left-back spot his own, displacing Marcelo and forcing the club to offload Sergio Reguilon.
The 25-year-old, who has established himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe, could have ended up on the books of the Bianconeri but Los Blancos “wanted him more.”
“We spoke to Juventus, but they already had Alex Sandro,” Mendy’s agent Yvan Lee Mee told Tuttosport.
“The truth is, Real Madrid wanted him more than anyone else. Two years ago, I said Ferland would become the Mbappe of left-backs and I was proved right.
“Playing along with the champions at Real Madrid can make you improve, and right now, I can’t think of a more complete left-back.”
