Ronaldo has struggled to put away free-kicks since joining Juventus, but Pinsoglio isn’t worried and hopes his good friend stays next season.

Juventus back-up keeper Carlo Pinsoglio insists “bad luck” is the only reason for Cristiano Ronaldo’s free-kick struggles in Turin.

In 123 official games for Juventus, Ronaldo has scored only one free-kick in 72 attempts. It’s a stat that critics have been quick to call him out on, despite the Portuguese ace still scoring a whopping 95 goals already.

But Pinsoglio has revealed there is nothing wrong with CR7’s free-kick ability as the forward “scores them all the time” in training.

“Cristiano always takes free kicks in training and he scores them all the time,” Pinsoglio told Tuttosport.

“I don’t know why he can’t do it in games, maybe it’s just bad luck.

“I have a beautiful friendship with him, my teammates make fun of me saying that I’ll go to the Euros with the Portugal staff and Cristiano.

“Ronaldo is a simple guy, not a star, he’s quiet, he likes to laugh and joke.”

Another early Champions League exit has fueled doubts over Cristiano’s future in Turin. Despite having a year left on his contract, rumors of a Real Madrid return refuse to die down.

Asked if Ronaldo will stay at Juventus, Pinsoglio replied: “I don’t know, but I hope so because he has a great impact.

“He has one year left on his contract. I hope and think he will stay. In theory, he will stay unless something strange happens.”
