Another experienced defender will take over from Chiellini as the new Bianconeri captain.
Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed Leonardo Bonucci will become the new Juventus captain ahead of the next season.
The Italy international succeeds Giorgio Chiellini, who has already confirmed he will leave the club this summer. The veteran centre-back leaves the Bianconeri after 17 years, claiming 20 trophies at the club.
Speaking ahead of Juve’s last home game of the season against Lazio, Allegri said: “It’s the last home game, you have to honour it to the fullest.
“And then it’s Giorgio Chiellini’s party and Paulo Dybala‘s last [game], we have to combine all three things,” Allegri told reporters at a media conference on Sunday.
“They are two different things. Giorgio stops or has an experience in America, I don’t know. Paulo changes team. Both will have the tribute of the fans, as I believe will [Lazio boss, Maurizio] Sarri, who returns and was the last [head coach] to win the Scudetto with Juve.”
He added: “The new Juventus captain will be Bonucci.”
Om addition to Chiellini, Paulo Dybala will also leave Juventus this summer.
The Argentine is yet to reach an agreement with another club, but new reports claim Inter are the frontrunners to sign him as a free agent. Other interested clubs are Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Arsenal.
