The difference in the quality of the two contestants was evident as the champions claimed a thorough and well-deserved victory.

Juventus cut the gap against second-placed AC Milan to only a single point following a 3-1 win over Genoa at the Allianz Stadium.

It did not take long for Juve to take the lead. Just four minutes in, Dejan Kulusevski gave his side the perfect start by producing a well-placed first-time finish on Juan Cuadrado’s pass.

Federico Chiesa’s shot was parried away by Mattia Perin, Cristiano Ronaldo then hit the post, and Alvaro Morata, who was in the right place at the right time, then doubled the lead by striking away the rebound.

At minute 20, substitute Weston McKennie put hosts in control of the proceedings as he beat the offside trap and slotted the ball home after Danilo had played him through.

Ronaldo failed to get on the target and get his customary goal – not for the lack of trying though. Ronaldo had his fair share of chances in both halves but he hadn’t put on his shooting boots, hitting the posts a couple of times and shooting wide on other occasions.
