Allianz Stadium was the place where Chelsea visited Juventus in a new Champions League match. We have tonight’s player ratings.

After winning last season’s Champions League tournament, Chelsea had an apparently accessible match against Juventus today. The Blues surprised the entire world by defeating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the final. Juventus wasn’t going through the best moment of the season as they are suffering in Serie A. Without Cristiano Ronaldo and a recently injured Dybala, the Vecchia Signora needed to trust Federico Chiesa for crucial games like today’s.

During the first half, both sides had clear chances but Juventus controlled the narrative over Chelsea. They made a fantastic defensive display throughout the 90 minutes but survived to play the second half with no allowed goals. This was Cantenaccio at its finest with one of the most ordained defensive lines in recent memory. There was a major surprise prepared for right after the second half started.

After the break, Juventus needed to confirm their brilliant defensive display with at least one goal that didn’t take them long to get. Chelsea was taken completely off guard with a goal right after the second-half kick-off. Federico Chiesa appeared to score one of the most important goals of his short career as a Juventus player. This was all Allegri needed in order to defend the result with the legendary Cantenaccio.

There wasn’t really a moment in which the Vecchia Signora allowed the Blues to create major danger. If they play like this throughout the tournament, there’s no doubt that Juventus might have a chance to go through to the knock-out stage. By the end of the match, everybody at Allianz Stadium celebrated because they know how important this victory was. We will also leave the rest of today’s results in the tweet down below.
