Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp allayed fears over Virgil van Dijk’s injury in pre-season friendly against RB Salzburg.

Virgil van Dijk was forced off the pitch in the 55th minute when Liverpool played Salzburg in a pre-season club friendly on Tuesday.

The Dutch defender suffered a head injury during the game, but Klopp revealed during the post-match press conference that the injury is not as serious as initially feared.

“Virg only looks like he has a piercing now and has a plaster on it. It should not be, and is, no problem,” the manager told Liverpool Fc.

“In the moment it is of course not cool but there will not be a problem.”

A second-half double from Rhian Brewster saw Liverpool recover from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with RB Salzburg.

Premier League champions have started their preparations to defend the revered crown this season.
