Jurgen Klopp has been offered the chance to solve his defensive problems and sign one of Arsenal’s central defenders.
Premier League champions Liverpool have been offered a quick solution to one of their biggest problems this season.
Jurgen Klopp had to pick Fabinho and Henderson at CB in last week’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton amid a severe injury crisis in his defense.
Arsenal obviously wanted to profit from the situation at Anfield and offered the German manager one of their defenders. It was Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who was not even included in Arteta’s squad for the first half of the 2020-21 campaign.
Klopp has already signed Sokratis once in his career when he brought him to Dortmund back in 2013, where they spent two years together.
However, the Greek defender is not a serious option for the English champions at this point in time.
“He was offered to Liverpool too, you know that? Liverpool were looking for an opportunity and he was offered to Liverpool, but at the moment he’s not an option,” the famous Fabrizio Romano explained via Talk Sport.
He was then asked if it is because of Sokratis’ relationship with Jurgen Klopp and replied:
“Yes, also he could be an opportunity, he was an opportunity because he was offered, but at the moment Liverpool have not decided whether they’re signing a center-back or not, they’re still in the middle of the situation, so nothing has been decided.”
Papastathopoulos is also linked with a move to Real Betis in the current transfer window.
