Jurgen Klopp has revealed the name of the player he likes the most outside his Liverpool team.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Jarrod Bowen as his ‘favorite’ player outside of his own team.
Bowen, who plays for West Ham United, caught Klopp’s attention during the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash on Wednesday. The winger scored a goal at Anfield, but it proved to be futile. West Ham simply had no answer for Liverpool, who cruised to an emphatic 5-1 victory.
Nonetheless, Klopp noted his admiration for Bowen while speaking to Sky Sports after the match.
“In quarter-finals, everybody can smell the chance to go through. In a very busy period, finding a line-up that can go and go and go because West Ham is a physically really strong team. David [Moyes] is doing an incredible job, I have to say,” Klopp said.
“They are good again, through in Europe, it’s really impressive. Injuries issues as well. Playing without [Michail] Antonio, and Bowen steps up in that position.
“[He is] probably my favorite player besides all my players, I have to say. It’s great what he is doing and how he has developed.”
Wednesday’s game marked the second time Bowen had scored at Anfield this season. Unfortunately, both games ended in defeat for him, with West Ham first losing 3-1 in the Premier League in September and 5-1 in the Carabao Cup this week.
Liverpool will now turn their attention to Saturday for a top-of-the-table clash with Premier League leaders Arsenal at Anfield.
