The Reds boss reacted to the latest twist in the Premier League title race with a stern warning about Manchester City.

Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, thinks that Manchester City should not be underestimated in the race for the Premier League title.

City have gone four games straight without a win after losing 1-0 to Aston Villa on Wednesday. This run of form has demoted Pep Guardiola’s side down to fourth in the standings. The champions of the past three seasons sit four points adrift of second-place Liverpool and a further two points off leaders Arsenal.

“If somebody would write City off that would be the biggest joke in the history of football,” Klopp said of the title battle.

The German made this remark after Liverpool defeated Sheffield United 2-0 on Wednesday.

Noting Arsenal’s nail-biting 4-3 victory at Luton Town a day earlier, Klopp added: “Arsenal are fighting and had a similar experience [to what] we had. It feels really good but anyway you have to start the next game from 0-0.

“Aston Villa is incredible. [Manchester] United is there, don’t play yet maybe exactly the football whoever wants — the media or whatever — but they have points like crazy.”

Liverpool will next face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday in the Premier League.
