The Reds suffered an unexpected defeat at the Vitality Stadium.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool have performed well below expectations in their away games.

Liverpool came into their Premier League clash against Bournemouth on the back of a 7-0 win over Manchester United at Anfield. However, they lacked enough attacking edge against their 17th-placed side rivals.

Liverpool’s pressure fizzled out after a brilliant start to the game, with the hosts claiming the match-winning goal through Philip Billing.

Speaking after the game, Klopp said“I see it. I think with the home games we are top four, if I’m right. With the away games we are not even in Europe.”

“Today was a proper setback, no doubt about that. Now we have to deal with it and we will deal with it. One of the things we learned this season was to deal with setbacks.”

Klopp’s men made six shots on target, and Mohamed Salah missed a penalty. However, their efforts were not enough to secure them a point against Bournemouth.

“This game was a massive knock and how it is with knocks, you have to take them, you have to have a look how big the scars are and then you go from there,” he added.

Liverpool have four days to prepare for their Champions League clash against Real Madrid. The Reds lost the first leg 5-2 at Anfield.
