Celebrating Liverpool’s brilliant victory over Newcastle almost cost Klopp his wedding ring.

Jurgen Klopp has thanked a cameraman who helped him find his wedding ring shortly after dropping it on the Anfield turf.

Liverpool defeated Newcastle 4-2 in a thrilling Premier League game on Monday. After the game, Klopp made his way around the pitch as he celebrated with the fans at Anfield.

It was at this time that the German manager’s wedding ring slipped off his finger and onto the turf. Having already made a few steps before noticing the ring was gone, Klopp hastily came back and started looking for the missing ring. Finally, with the aid of a Sky Sports cameraman, he found the ring and put it back on.

“I am not into jewellery, but this is the one ring I can’t live without,” Klopp told Bein Sports on Tuesday.

“The cameraman who found it is my hero. He is my new hero for 2024. From now on if he wants to have my full face [in the camera] then he can have it.”

Liverpool are EPL leaders

Winning 2024’s first Premier League match secured Liverpool’s place at the top of the table as Klopp’s side sit three points above Aston Villa.

Mohamed Salah scored his 150th Premier League goal for the Reds before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations. The Egypt international could miss Liverpool’s next eight games in the coming weeks.

Liverpool will face Arsenal in the FA Cup’s third round on Sunday before hosting Fulham in the Carabao Cup semi-finals three days later.
