A host of elite European sides are pursuing a deal for the World Cup star.
Josko Gvardiol has named Liverpool as his favourite Premier League side as he prepares to choose his next club.
The Reds are currently not in the race to sign Gvardiol. However, Chelsea and Manchester City are pushing to bring the RB Leipzig star to the Premier League.
After a sensational World Cup campaign with Croatia, Gvardiol’s market value has increased significantly. Real Madrid, who are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old, has reportedly offered €120m to sign him next summer.
Asked by RTL about his favourite Premier League side, Gvardiol revealed his love for Liverpool.
“That would definitely be Liverpool,” he said. “Since I was little, I watched a lot of Liverpool matches with my dad, and we covered every season in detail. It is a club that has remained in my heart.”
Liverpool inquired about Gvardiol before Chelsea pushed to sign him last summer. The Reds are currently in need of a new defender to cover for Virgil van Dijk’s absence.
However, it’s unlikely to see the Reds rush another big-money move after adding Cody Gakpo to their ranks last month.
Liverpool are reportedly leaning toward signing Milan Skriniar, whose contract at Inter will expire in June.
