Bournemouth forward Josh King has fueled speculation about a move to Manchester United after admitting his dream of Champions League football.
Josh King has openly commented about the Red Devils’ long-lasting interest in his signature.
The Norwegian forward joined Manchester United as a teenager back in 2008 but failed to make the grade.
After starring for their U-18 and U-23 teams mostly, King eventually secured a permanent move to Blackburn in 2013. Two years later, he was back in the Premier League with Bournemouth.
Back in January, the Red Devils were strongly linked with a move for their ex-player.
United came close to re-signing King before eventually deciding to go for Odion Ighalo on deadline day.
The 28-year-old now says he wants to play Champions League football and also admits he was hoping to join the Red Devils back in January.
“I’m sitting here at Ullevaal in this chair and I do not know where I will play next season – that’s an honest answer,” King told TV2 while on national team duty with Norway.
“I won’t lie, I really wanted to go [to Man Utd] in January. But what happened, happened. We’ll just have to wait and see. There are still a lot of options.”
“I have a dream to play in the Champions League. Whether that will happen in this transfer window or in two years, I don’t know. But I have the same dream about it that all boys have.”
When the reporter tipped him to move to Old Trafford despite the failed January move, King added: “I hope you’re right! It would be amazing if Man Utd are still interested. I was at United for five years and I learned a lot there.”
Bournemouth are expected to see a number of departures after suffering relegation last term. Nathan Ake has left already and King could also be on his way out soon.
