Ahead of the upcoming FA Cup match against Everton, Jose Mourinho offered his reaction after the online death threats Mike Dean suffered.

Referee Mike Dean was just exposed to online death threats after his controversial red card during the game between West Ham United and Fulham. It was one of those usual decisions Mike Dean has made throughout his entire career. The only difference is that social media has a lot more reach to public figures in modern times. Crazy people have always existed but they have a voice now.

The ref decided to stop officiating games for a while during the police investigation to these death threats he got online. In the midst of this deplorable situation, Jose Mourinho shed some light on online abuse. The Portuguese manager also pointed out the racist abuse many players have gotten over the last few months. Jose is convinced that any type of abuse should be punished accordingly.

Mourinho wants solutions to abuse ASAP.

During the press conference before Tottenham’s FA Cup match against Everton, Jose Mourinho spoke about the effects of online abuse. Specifically, he referred to Mike Dean and Axel Tuanzebe’s situations: “Of course I feel very sorry for Mike Dean. I feel very sorry with Tuanzebe, and with every Mike Dean and every Tuanzebe of this world,” the Portuguese said via Goal.

“This week was for them, the week before was for others, and if the situation goes in the same direction, next week will be others. I think something has to be done, because one thing is professional life and what we do in our professional lives, and the success we have, the mistakes we make, the frustrations we have. Another thing is to go to the private life and go to the social life. Then, of course, something has to be done.”
