Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is keeping a close eye on a well-known Real Madrid player with only a few months left on his contract.
The Spurs boss is reportedly looking for an experienced center-back in the January transfer window. The latest transfer rumors suggest that Mourinho has found his target at his former club. Merengues captain Sergio Ramos is yet to sign a new contract. Therefore, he will be allowed to leave Madrid on a free transfer in 2021.
According to the Evening Standard, the Portuguese manager is hoping to take advantage of his good relationship with the Spanish defender to bring him over to London. Ramos worked with Mourinho for three seasons at Madrid, lifting three pieces of silverware during the spell.
Although Sergio Ramos will turn 35 next year, the defender is still a key piece for his team both on and off the pitch. However, the player reportedly wants a two-year deal with no salary reduction, which has caused some doubts at the Bernabeu. Ramos has issued no warranties on whether he’ll remain with the club. Therefore, he has woken up the interest of some European giants such as Paris-Saint Germain.
Should Mourinho fail to secure Ramos for the center of his defense, the Portuguese manager may look back into a former transfer target. Having received some interest from London in the summer, Milan Skriniar is back on the Spurs list. However, this deal seems even more unlikely given the fees necessary to secure the Inter Milan defender.
