The Italian star has found a perfect start to life in north London.
Jorginho found out he had no place in Chelsea’s plans before deciding to join Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Mohamed Elneny’s season-ending injury convinced the Gunners to search for a new midfielder last month. After making two failed bids to sign Moises Caicedo, Arsenal decided to complete a late move for Jorginho.
The Italian star arrived at Emirates on a deadline day, ending a successful spell at Chelsea.
Reports from English media claimed the Blues opened negotiations with Jorginho to tie him down to a new deal earlier this season. However, the experienced midfielder says he wasn’t a part of Chelsea‘s future plans.
“[Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta] called me and it was all very quick, we made the deal in less than 48 hours,” he told DAZN. “I had spoken to Chelsea and I knew I was no longer part of their plans. I wanted to progress in my career and the Arsenal project suits me.
“It’s a young team that plays good football and fits my characteristics. I considered every scenario and made the decision. Sometimes you must accept when you are out of a project and that things come to an end.”
