The Portugal star has attracted interest from a few elite sides following his unsuccessful spell at the Spanish capital.
AtleticoMadrid’s chief executive Gil Marin has confirmed Joao Felix is not keen to continue his career at the club.
Felix has failed to live up to expectations since moving to Atletico on a €126m deal in 2019. Diego Simeone has limited the Portugal international’s game time, failing to activate his full potential.
However, Felix’s wonderful spell at the World Cup so far has shown the Atletico Madrid star might be able to regain his best form elsewhere.
Speaking about the Portuguese star, Marin admitted Felix is not keen to stay at Wanda Metropolitano.
“[Joao Felix] is the biggest bet this club has taken in its history. I personally think he’s a top talent, a world class player,” Marin told TVE.
“For reasons it isn’t worth getting into – the relationship between him and the boss [Simeone], the minutes played, his motivation right now.
“It makes you think that the reasonable thing is that if there’s an option that’s good for the player, good for the club, we can look at it. I’d love him to stay personally, but I don’t think that’s the player’s idea.”
Felix has attracted interest from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea ahead of the winter transfer window.
However, most sources believe the 23-year-old will stay at Atletico until the next summer.
