The summer loan signing has revealed which one of the Barcelona players has impressed him the most with their quality.

Joao Felix has revealed that Frenkie de Jong has been the most surprising player for him since joining Barcelona.

The 23-year-old arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid in September. In that time, he has made five appearances, starring alongside world-renowned talents such as Robert Lewandowski and Pedri.

Yet, it’s De Jong’s skills and exceptional game intelligence that has caught Felix’s eye.

“Frenkie has surprised me the most,” Felix admitted in a press conference in his native Portugal on Tuesday.

“I knew about him, but you see his game differently in person, as well as how he thinks about the game and how he sees the space.”

‘We have maybe the most difficult group game’

Felix spoke to reporters before Barcelona’s Champions League game against FC Porto this Wednesday.

After one match, the two teams enter the clash in Portugal level on three points at the top of Group H. Barca thrashed Antwerp 5-0 in their opening fixture, while Porto defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 on the road.

Reflecting on their upcoming challenges, Felix acknowledged, “We had a good win in the first game. Now, we have maybe the most difficult group game.

“We are not thinking too far ahead, but it is obvious we want to get Barca back among the favorites in this competition.”
