The Gunners are among a host of suitors who pursue Felix’s signature.

Joao Felix has revealed his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid ahead of the next season.

Since moving to Madrid from Benfica, the Golden Boy winner has failed to live up to expectations under Diego Simeone.

However, his versatility has enabled him to play as a regular starter for the Rojiblancos despite his underwhelming form.

North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly keen to make a bid for Felix this summer. However, the 22-year-old says he is not thinking about leaving Atletico.

“An exit from Atletico is not on the table,” the 22-year-old told reporters.

“I am calm about my future, and aware of what I can do, I feel good about myself.

“I am still on holiday, I have just started training to prepare pre-season but I’m not thinking about football too much.”

Felix scored eight goals and provided four assists in his 23 La Liga appearances last season. The Portuguese star continued to struggle for consistency, but his exceptional talent has not remained hidden from elite clubs.

Moving to a new club might provide Felix with a chance for a fresh start. However, it brings too much uncertainty ahead of the upcoming 2022 World Cup.

The former Benfica star has secured a regular spot in Fernando Santos’ squad, making 22 caps for the national team.
