The Portuguese star is spending a six-month loan deal at Allianz Arena.

Joao Cancelo believes he’s made a fine start at Bayern Munich after his mid-season move from Manchester City.

An unexpected move from Bayern saw Cancelo leave Etihad on the final day of the winter transfer window. Reported problems with Pep Guardiola and limited playing time convinced the Portuguese star to leave the club.

Since then, Cancelo has found a mixed start to life at Bayern. A few brilliant performances as a substitute has been followed by underwhelming displays and a lack of starts.

Cancelo will reunite with his Man City teammates when Bayern travel to Etihad for a crucial Champions League clash next week.

Speaking to the Sabener51 magazine, Cancelo said“I see my start at Bayern as positive. There’s always a certain adjustment period for footballers.

“That’s why I tried to integrate myself into the team as quickly as possible, to get to know the teammates and the system. At team level and at personal level everything is going very well so far.”

Bayern have the option to sign Cancelo for €70m at the end of the season. However, widespread reports in German media claim the Bavarians will most likely negotiate with Man City over a lower fee.

On the other hand, both Guardiola and Cancelo have played down reports about their broken relationship. Therefore, a return to Etihad is also on the table for the Portugal international.
