Haaland may lead the way in terms of goals for Man City, but Agbonlahor suggests Jesus offers Arsenal more.
Arsenal’s signing of Gabriel Jesus was a better deal than Manchester City’s capture of Erling Haaland, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Jesus left City in a €52.2 million transfer to Arsenal in the summer and has since helped the Gunners pip his old club to first place in the Premier League table, managing four goals and three assists in seven games.
In contrast, Haaland has scored a league-best of 11 goals in as many games since joining City from Borussia Dortmund for €60 million.
“Best signing is Gabriel Jesus for me,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
“Haaland has been outstanding, but City always did well without Haaland, scored ridiculous goals without Haaland.
“Gabriel Jesus has turned Arsenal into something else. They have got a striker now who doesn’t labor when he is pressing defenders.”
Agbonlahor played in the Premier League between 2006 and 2016 for Aston Villa before his retirement two years later.
The former striker managed 73 goals and 50 assists in 322 league games.
